Tagged!

Well, Kat did a cute little meme on her blog yesterday...and since I can't do any food posts here in Arizona, here is a little meme about me! smile I hope to see others do this too! Everyone is tagged... razz

10 Years Ago...oh boy! Well, sadly I was still in high school. I guess it would have been about my junior year…I think junior year was when I started to hit my stride in terms of getting comfortable in high school and getting active in extracurriculars.

1 Year Ago...I was working in my current position in a temporary basis (now it’s official!). Was on a year long break between baccalaureate and my post-baccalaureate education…and probably itching to travel! But the latter never changes…

5 Favorite Snacks
1. Wheat Thins (all the new flavors are great!)
2. String cheese
3. Bananas
4. Trail Mix
5. Peanut M&Ms

5 Things I Would Do if I were a Millionaire
1. Buy a gorgeous apartment or nice SF home with bay windows that has an AWESOME kitchen. The kitchen has to be the best part of the house, with state of the art everything and a lot of room for guests. I would also like a little nook for lazying around or even eating at. Library for my cookbooks…television as I cook. I have very elaborate plans for this. Heehee…
2. Help my family take care of needs so they can be comfortable…
3. The first one is really a dream more so than reality…one million won’t get you far these days…so I would probably put the money away in savings to continue working…and live comfortably and be able to…
4. TRAVEL!
5. And probably invest in opening my own restaurant…which would fulfill a lifelong dream.

5 Bad Habits
1. Eating too fast! I’m trying to slow down but it’s hard when I’m traveling…
2. Not keeping up a consistent workout schedule
3. Impulsive shopping (I’ve cut back a lot though…)
4. Yawing in meetings (I can’t help it!)…but I think I might need to take up coffee.
5. Laziness!

5 Things You Like Doing
1. Driving out to the north shore during the weekends
2. Browsing craft fairs
3. Cooking
4. Trying new things and foods
5. Spending time with my family

5 Things You Would Never Wear Again
1. Bicycle shorts as fashion
2. Neon clothing
3. China doll hairdo
4. Oversize T-shirts (To accessorize bicycle shorts of course)
5. It’s hard to think of these! I have blocked a lot out of memory on purpose.

5 Favorite Toys
1. Nintendo DS
2. My computer!
3. My miniatures collection
4. My Ipod
5. My new camera that I need to learn how to use!

Greetings from Arizona!

I have been so bad with posts again, and now I'm in Arizona! Don't worry, it's only for a work trip so I will be back in Hawaii at the end of the week. Missing the local grinds already! I haven't had rice for days! What is going up with that? Heehee, I know I know...gotta try the local foods...which I have. The big thing down here seems to be Mexican food...which sad to say...isn't my favorite. I did get to go to Olive Garden last night...so expect a full post on that. I'm taking random pictures here and there...but nothing substantial. I don't want all my peers to think I'm too crazy...yet. smile

Anyhow, it might be a bit late to ask...but anyone have anyone have any good restaurant picks? I'm in Tempe...renting a car at the end of the week! Woohoo! Well, hope you all are doing well!

Homestyle Fried Rice

Here are some pictures of one of my favorite fried rice dishes. It's very simple, yet the flavors just pull me in everytime. I could probably eat this every single day, delicious. It includes spam, choy sum, rice, green onions, garlic and the all important harm ha sauce. Some people can't stand it, I can't stand not to eat it! smile Well, onto the pictures!

Gifts in a Jar - Xmas '07

It's a bit of a late post, but here are two gifts in a jar that I made for some coworkers. The first was the Grand Slam Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies and the second was the Italian Bean Soup. I was quite proud of the way they came out! Homemade gifts are wonderful but boy are they hard work! Putting together all the jars myself took hours but was well worth the effort.

Two gifts in all its glory...

Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin

I had a business lunch at this restaurant a few weeks ago and was wonderfully surprised! I don't usually order katsu dishes, but this place specializes in making some great tonkatsu. The whole experience was wonderful and I am more than happy to return one day soon! Here's a quick hint, if you want free parking...you should come here for dinner. They offer a great validation.

Morton's The Steakhouse

Hello everyone! Here's a review of a visit I had to Morton's Steakhous back in November. I remember it was November because it was for Kristian's birthday! smile Unfortunately, we didn't have a good time...at all. First, I think us having a coupon opened the door to horrible service. Service should never be compromised, and the coupon was still worth at least a hundred bucks for the meal...so I wasn't too pleased. And this time, unfortunately, the food was not good enough to make up for the service. But let's get to the pictures.

A very dark picture of the very dark dining experience...

Matcha (Green Tea) Cookies

Happy early St. Patrick's Day to you all! Oh boy, I just realized that I'll be posting some pictures of green cookies just in time for this holiday. That's pretty funny. I've been closing commenting in some of the posts I have on here because of those damn spammers! When I tried to do password commenting, that didn't work too much so I'll just stick to my deleting. Anyhow, here are some green tea cookies I made for a little tea party. I wasn't happy with the taste at all, so I won't be posting a recipe. I did realize that what I want to make is...matcha french style macaroons but that will be a while from now. smile Let me share these pictures because I just think they're so cute!

Ichiriki Restaurant

Hello everyone! I hope you guys are still sticking with me in this time of transition. smile I have still been eating out, but have not been able to update as much as I would like. But don't lose faith in me yet! smile Here is a recent visit to a wonderful Japanese Nabe (Hot-pot) restaurant. They are very busy, but we were very lucky that we didn't have to wait too long. It was well worth the wait anyhow! So here is the review:

Baked Spaghetti

Oh boy, the rain has really been coming down this week huh? Makes it hard for me to do laundry, but I need clean clothes! Anyhoo, let me share a recipe for Baked Spaghetti that is perfect for this type of weather. Easy to make and delicious to eat, I hope you all enjoy it! I used to love the baked spaghetti that came in the school lunches, so I decided to recreate it for myself! My office loved it (made it for a holiday party)...and amazingly enough...people who don't usually like spaghetti dishes tend to like this dish.

Genki Sushi - Ward Centre

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I noticed there was a bit of a lull in my regular visits to my fellow food bloggers, are we all having a busy week? Well, I'll be looking forward to a long weekend of studying...I've procrastinated long enough! So let me share with you a recent visit to the newest Genki Sushi in Oahu. Actually I have been there a few times now, but will post an earlier visit. This visit was done when they were still pretty new, so the service was amazing. Well, let's just say that, now that they've been open for a while...the service is definitely not as good. But let's get to the pictures shall we?

Jja Jang Myun

Here I am, sitting here on a beautiful Monday morning at home. Aren't holidays great? I enrolled an in graduate course this semester, but I hope that won't hinder my ability to post in this blog! I think the next 3 weeks or so, I will be experimenting with different recipes...which I will definitely post here! But let me share with you a dish I made a few months ago, Jja Jang Myun! When I used to watch Korean dramas, I would salivate at the sight of the characters eating these beautiful black bean sauce noodles. A wonderful lady by the name of Maangchi has a great series of Korean cooking videos up on youtube. Please visit Maangchi at her website, she has great tutorials up for some great classic Korean favorites. Highly recommended! So let me share my version of her recipe:

Cafe Sistina

We paid a little visit over to Cafe Sistina in December. We were looking for a nice Italian place to eat dinner, but were looking to find a new restaurant we hadn't tried...so we turned our sights to Cafe Sistina. Lesson learned? Stick to the classics you love; especially for a holiday dinner! Well, let's share what we had...

Nihon Noodles

I must grab my chance to review a new restaurant! Since this is a fairly new blog, I tend to do repeat reviews of other blogs...but I don't think I have seen a review for this restaurant just yet! It is a newly opened ramen shop that I ABSOLUTELY love. Let me share with you my experience so that you can fall in love as well...

Blazin' Steaks

I recently read about this new place in Kalihi called Blazin' Steaks and figured I should give it a try! So I made the suggestion to my office, and we made it an office lunch! This place is great because they have the cheapest steak plates around town! Only 6 dollars (tax included!) buys you a huge plate AND a drink! Let's take a look at the plates!

Restaurant Front View, it took over the old Pizza Hut.

Palama Supermarket Bento

Palama Supermarket has a great snack corner that serves all the Korean food you could ever want. Almost every time I go there, I must get the kim bap. This time however, I decided to partake in their bento. It's a great deal and they give you a LOT! Take a look...
