06/10/2007: "Shokudo"

Shokudo Japanese Restaurant & Bar is a great restaurant with an awesome ambience, they serve traditional Japanese food with a modern twist. Here's a few pictures of the exterior and interior from the restaurant's website:

Looks great right? Well let's get right to the food!

Click for some food porn...

Shokudo Menu

A sample of the tableware...

These are some stir-fried noodles my friend had. He didn't really enjoy it, and now as I'm looking over their menu, I see it's not on there anymore! So yes, I guess we shouldn't have to bother huh? It was pretty ordinary if you ask me.

I had the Salmon Rice. I love this dish, it's awesome. It comes out in the sizzling stone pot...with the rice, raw salmon and some fish roe. You can either cook it yourself, or have the waiter/tress do it for you. That's what I did, and here is the end product. Very good!

Just a pretty picture of some nori and wasabi that accompanies my salmon rice.

FTW! I love this shot of the gyoza. First of all, gyoza is one of my all time favorite foods...and second, I just love how this picture came out. The gyoza was typical, but typical for me is awesome, so let's just say it's awesome.

So there's a small sample of what I've had there. I've been there a few times before and after this particular visit, and I must say I do enjoy it. It's always very busy, so I don't even bother walking in. It's not a restaurant that I must go to...but if it's suggested...I would be more than willing to go. Service is much like other places, starts off pretty good...then leaves you wondering where your waiter/tress disappears to. The prices are reasonable too. Here is their information:

The tofu salad was good! And no, I didn't try the salmon rice because we ordered one of the other salmon dishes and the garlic shrimp rice. I'll definitely order the salmon rice the next time!

Noreen! I'm glad you enjoyed your time! A warm salad dressing does actually interest me. Did you try the salmon rice??

Hi Jenny! Went to Shokudo last night with friends and ordered way too much food! Really loved the tofu salad (dressing was warm, which made it so different), yukari fries, dynamite sushi, garlic steak and cinnamon honey toast. Nothing tasted bad, but I didn't really think the other dishes were that special - tofu, gyoza, lettuce wrap, shrimp rice. Didn't try the herb chicken or spicy ahi sushi but my friends liked those. Service was great; the place was crowded but we didn't wait for long for our food and the staff was very attentive.

haha remember when i ate with you there, the bowl you had wasn't even hot? that was pretty funny. and the noodles i had was tick! but i'll have to say that the dining areas were great. a little too noisy for my taste, but an overall good experience.
