07/16/2007: "Food Porn from Hong Kong"

In an earlier post, I mentioned that I went to China in 2005. This trip included a sad one day trip to Hong Kong. That one day awakened my love that for that little country. All the shops, the malls, the restaurants, far exceeded anything I have ever had in my life. Why don't I just show you the pictures to show my love?

Nomadic food?

Nope, just a great little Hong Kong Buffet! Isn't this little wok cute? It was a noodle station, you would grab the little wok...put whatever ingredients you wanted in it. Then you would hand this over to the chef and tell him/her what sauce you wanted with it. So here is my little concoction. It was a bit salty to be honest, but looks so good!

Random assortment from the salad bar. My god, the asparagus was awesome!

This is from a food court! Can you believe it? We ordered from a Vietnamese stand. My friend got some great pho and I got myself some kind of rice noodle. It was very good!

Azabusabo Restaurant. This was a cute Japanese cafe right by our hotel! Here is what I ordered, it's a hamburger steak dish. Doesn't it just look delicious? Such a great deal.

The drink I got with my dish. I think it was iced chocolate, I thought it was all right.

Dessert! Here is what my friend ordered, doesn't it look perfect??

My dessert! I got myself some green tea ice cream over azuki beans with mochi balls. Doesn't this dish look like it was made for a professional photo shoot? It was as delicious as it was beautiful.

I experienced so much in the one day I was in Hong Kong. I really hope to return one day soon and stay at least a whole week. One advantage I have is that I am at least semi-fluent in Cantonese and would be able to get around pretty well. Also, the exchange rate is quite favorable for us Americans to take advantage of. Since Hong Kong was under British control for so long, I think it is also quite easy for non-natives to get around. Definitely can't wait to return.
