Can you believe that I have never tried a teppanyaki until a few months ago? I guess I have never been tempted to because I'm not a huge fan of sitting in front of a chef while he cooks my food and (possibly?) watching me eat? Anyhow, my friend did have a coupon for this particular meal...so I was all in for that! =) To my surprise, the chef was pretty entertaining and no, did not watch us eat. So yay on both counts. Now, how did the food compare to the entertainment?
The wonderous grill...More pictures and full post...
Our blackened Ahi appetizer. Fresh tuna coated in Tanaka's own spices. We dug into it before the picture was taken! And I have to say, it was MUCH smaller than the picture portrayed. Not recommended.
Blurry picture of our chef. He put on quite the show for us, especially for the small child at our table. It was great that he got him involved...
The onions are ready to erupt...
I love shrimp.
Mixed vegetables. We were served green peppers, mushrooms and bean sprouts. There was absolutely no taste and he burned them. It was too bad...
Here is the grill with everyone's steaks and bean sprouts cooking. The steak didn't impress me neither! The taste was lacking in every dish, I feel like they value entertainment over taste. We were treated like queens though, great service! We also left with a complimentary cup which was nice. I suppose my steak was cooked pretty well, but my friend complained that her steak was overdone. This is definitely a restaurant I will not be returning to anytime soon.Tanaka of Tokyo West
