**COMMENTING**
Hi guys, I've have been having a big issue with spammers on this site so I have to add the static phrase element to all comments. With the commenting system on this system, you may need to click on the "Post Comment" button, rather than pressing enter on the keyboard. I hope this doesn't hinder the comments, I appreciate them all! Thank you!

07/29/2007: "Tanioka's Seafoods and Catering"

I used to work in downtown, maybe about 4 years ago? My god! How time has passed! Actually, I last worked in downtown 4 years ago...I started there about 7 years ago. That's insanity, but I must say, the times I spent working in downtown account for some of the happiest times of my life. I don't know why, but I just loved everything about downtown. That is also why I am old enough to remember the short stint Tanioka's had at Pioneer Plaza many many years ago. But it is through Tanioka's that my first taste and eventual obsession with Spicy Tuna started. I was very sad when they closed down but made a faithful trip down to the virgin territory of Waipahu.

Thank god for this sign...

A walk down memory lane...

Their extensive seafood case...

Their spam musubi, it is very good. Just the right amount of sweetness in the teriyaki marinade. Oh! And they gave us a free bag of arare with our purchase, I don't know if we went crazy overboard or they're just that nice...but it was a great surprise.

A dissected spam musubi...

Is that what I think it is? Oh yes, it definitely is...

A different angle is needed. It is spicy tuna with rice. Not just any kind of rice, but sushi rice.

Have I mentioned how much I love spicy tuna?

It's a lot.

The legendary chopstick shot...

And I don't know why I needed two of them. The spicy tuna did not disappoint. They do serve it in bigger containers now (which explains the higher price) but it tasted exactly the same as before. Connie felt the rice was too sweet but enjoyed the spicy tuna as well (she is very critical of spicy tuna). smile

Yum, we had to try some of their ahi poke too!

Close-up in all it's glossiness...

A shot of our day's spread...
