09/12/2007: "Bubba Gump Shrimp Company"
Bubba Gump Shrimp Company used to be a favorite of mine. I don't know why it has disappeared from the radar, I guess a few years ago, they used to have a long wait to get in and the food was good, but not anything I craved. Anyhoo, when it came time for my birthday dinner...Kristian was sweet enough to treat me to Bubba Gump's! Let's let the pictures tell the story...
A bucket of shrimp and dipping sauce, how can you lose?Click here for more pictures and full review...
Hush Pups ($7.99 USD)
These are hands down my favorite appetizer at Bubba Gumps. What does it contain? It's stuffed with great shrimp, fish and corn...and served up with a remoulade dipping sauce.
Close-up of the dipping sauce, it looks like thousand island...but definitely does not taste it.
Dissected hush puppy.
I certainly took a lot of pictures of the hush pups. I think it's because we had a great deal of waiting time before our entrees came...and when the entrees got to us, we just wanted to dig in!
Mama's Southern Fried Chicken ($10.99 USD)
Close-up of the chicken.
Mashed potatoes with Bourbon Gravy. I love the look of mashed potatoes with bits of red skin in it...don't know why...
The cole slaw.
Fresh corn on the cob. The pictures look great, but unfortunately, Kristian did not enjoy this dish.
Shrimp New Orleans ($15.49 USD).
Anytime I come here, I always order this dish. Not to say the other dishes aren't good (Shrimpin' Dippin' Broth is highly recommended - $14.99 USD)...but this is my all time favorite.
This is an spicy dish that has shrimp sauteed in butter, garlic and spices. They used to be quite generous with this dish, no complaints about this particular night...but once again, I enjoy consistency. The greatest thing about Bubba Gump's service is that stop and go sign they have at the table. I have a hard time waving down the wait staff sometimes...but with the flick of that sign...I get help by any person walking by. You can't beat that! The food took quite a while to get to us...and the restaurant wasn't even too busy...so I wasn't too happy about that...but the food made up for it! I would like to extend my thanks to Kristian once again for a great dinner.

i did not not enjoy my meal. it was good, yes. it was just...regular, i guess. it's something that you could really find anywhere else, really. can't say that there was anything 'special' about it. i'm a big fan of gravy and if you are, too, i would recommend you ask them to put a little extra. the corn i had was undercooked. overall, a good meal. the other dishes i have had in the past were better...stick to the shrimp. it's what's they're known for.

Hi sherbearmachi! Kristian mentioned that he thought the chicken was very ordinary in taste...so I'm assuming it wasn't very flavorful. And if Im correct, it might have been too dry. I'm hoping Kristian posts his response...
