09/24/2007: "Town"
I've been to Town a few times now and came to a conclusion that it's not my thing. Don't get me wrong, they do have great dishes and a great atomsphere but there's just something that doesn't sit right with me. This post is going to be composed of pictures from a few visits, and I apologize ahead of time for the lack of details and prices! Well, why don't I let the pictures and commentary tell the story?

Interior.
Water but of course!
Lemonade.
Town menu.
Quick glance of the entrees...
Great tagline right?
Bread. Olives. Butter.
Delicious ahi appetizer. It looks like it's on toast, but it's really a rice cake/toast...very good.
Ribeye with roquefort butter and french fries.
Not exactly health food...
The greens that came with the salad. I disliked these greens because once again, it's the bitter type.
French fries. This is my least favorite part of the dish, not at all edible.
Close-up of the steak.
Wondering about parking?
Here it is, a very small lot that is not easy to manuver around. I come pretty early (about 6:00), so I am able to find a spot in the lot. Anytime after that, the lot is packed.
Here's the street parking. The first time I came, I had to park on the street...in the residential area. Wasn't too happy about it...
Okay, I don't always take bathroom shots but here it is.
I really like their sink.
A word for your thoughts as you leave the restroom.
Pate, delicious. Kristian of course did not like it, so I got my little toastinis with the pate all to myself.
Here is another dish I tried on another visit, it is the pork shoulder.
The pork was perfectly tender and delicious.
I think this is polenta? I don't remember, but I really really liked it. If anyone knows what this is or even how to create this dish, please do let me know! I remember bits of mushroom in it...it was made in a risotto style...so good. The service at Town is pretty good, they are knowledgable about the menu. I always find that I get great service in the beginning but then find myself wondering where the wait staff is near the end. The menu is definitely on the high end, but because it is so fresh and organic, that makes it worth the price. I think I will return at least one more time...but won't expect much.

It looks like the grain is farro (the father/mother of all grains). I've found dishes to be hits (fritto misto) or misses (North Shore beef) and the place can get overbearingly loud.

i love your site & your pictures!!! i still haven't gotten around to going to town yet (couldn't find parking on several occasions so ended up elsewhere)... the risotto-looking dish doesn't look like polenta... if it wasn't brown rice,(pearl) barley, maybe? it's usually made with short-grain arborio or other italian rice...
