12/27/2007: "International House of Pancakes"
Oahu has been waiting for an IHOP for many years, and our prayers were finally answered this past year. In fact, now that they've arrived, they're popping up all over the place! Since partaking in IHOP's cuisine, I must wonder why they are called the International House of Pancakes. The food they serve is actually very much American, but I digress. I've heard good and bad things about the IHOPs here in Oahu, but allow me to share my own details...
Welcome to the IHOP.Click here for more pictures and the full review...
Here is the outer shot of the Windward Mall location.
IHOP Menu.
Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity ($9.49 USD).
Yum...eggs over easy...
A part of the Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity, two buttermilk pancakes crowned with cool strawberry and whipped topping.
Doesn't that look great?
Pancake Combo ($9.99 USD).
I ordered my eggs scrambled and they were just perfect. Okay they don't look too scrambled, but they were cooked perfectly! I loved them!
The hash browns were pretty good as well!
Pork sausage links, served everywhere, nothing special.
Two buttermilk pancakes included in the pancake combo, looks great.
Trying to work my camera...
Here is a side of the fruit and whipped topping for the two buttermilk pancakes. It costs $1.99 USD.What local breakfast is complete without rice? Not this one! Here's a fair warning to you locals, none of the meals come with rice, so if you want it, you gotta order it separate. We ordered our side order of rice and it costs us $1.59 USD, just your typical two scoops.
I've been to the Windward location a few times now and I don't have much complaints. They are constantly busy which means a busy wait staff. My only complaint is the service, but it has never been so horrible that it upset me. I definitely would return because I think the food is great! I actually prefer it over Anna Miller's which many people would probably frown at...but a girl likes what she likes! If anyone has been to any other locations, I would love to hear your feedback!

Hey Marvo! Thanks for the feedback! I heard that a new IHOP opened in pearl city too! Maybe I need to venture out there myself...but I think I'm heading out to the windward mall location again tomorrow. Been itching for some good breakfast food!

I've been to the IHOP on Maui, but I have yet to go to the one at Windward Mall. I didn't even know about the one in Waikiki. Those pancakes in your picture were BIG.

Hey Nicole! Horrible parking huh? I thought they had their own lot? I was thinking about heading out there, but I hardly go to Waikiki because of bad parking all around! But thanks for the feedback!

I'm actually quite curious what you had. I want to say something, that may be a bit naughty...but I would probably be very wrong. Help me out here!

there's also an ihop in waikiki, but unless you're staying in waikiki, i dont know if you want to go to it. the parking is HORRIBLE. end of story. walk there if at all possible. its not on the main street, but the back street...kuhio ave? i dont know my streets. but yeah. i would go all the way to windward just to avoid the parking at waikiki.

a breakfast post! kristian LOVES breakfast (and not necessarily eaten in the morning...heh)! i haven't been to any of the ihops on oahu, but i have gone to the one in maui and one in anaheim. i can say that i was pleased both times. i always had to take my pancakes home because they do give a lot of food. and i, too, need the rice. i'm not a fan of their hash browns...ok, i take that back...i mean i don't like how it's prepared. it tastes the same as any other hash browns, though...and it's pretty yum. i bet you know what i had at the maui location, jenny.
