01/20/2008: "Cafe Sistina"

We paid a little visit over to Cafe Sistina in December. We were looking for a nice Italian place to eat dinner, but were looking to find a new restaurant we hadn't tried...so we turned our sights to Cafe Sistina. Lesson learned? Stick to the classics you love; especially for a holiday dinner! Well, let's share what we had...

Interior wall shot, I love these paintings!

Quick shot of the restaurant interior. This picture is doing too much justice! This restaurant is actually quite small...

Bread and butter, the butter is mixed with herbs. I think it might have been thyme...

They have a side of parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes at your table. While I appreciate that it's already there for me to use...I prefer when they freshly grate cheese at your table. There is a big difference in taste, and you can tell this is not freshly grated!

Escargot ($8.75 USD)

Here's an appetizer I tried on my own. Kristian definitely did not want to try Escargot!

The escargot is imported from France served with an italian butter sauce over polenta. I have tried escargot before and this was not good. The snails tasted pretty, I'm sorry to say this...but rank. You could tell it was old, and I'm going put a guess out there that it came from a can. This dish also left a weird feeling in my throat afterwards...

Lobster Ravioli ($17.75 USD)

Lobster filled ravioli in a pink butter vermouth sauce with chopped shrimp...

This sauce doesn't look that pink to me...

Here is an interior shot of the ravioli...

Shrimp Alla Vodka ($16.25 USD)

Shrimp sauteed with chopped clams and capers in a vodka sauce with fettucine...

My dish was very good, I enjoyed it very much! Once again, my dish was supposed to be a pink sauce...but not so much with the pink...

Nate -

Simple but good food is what I thrive for! I will try to get out there one day!

Kat-

It's too bad to hear they did go downhill. My pasta was pretty good, but this visit just didn't make want to return...anytime soon. confused

For inexpensive, but tasty Italian pasta, try JP Spaghetti in the Wahiawa Town Center if you've got the time.

Small, plain, simple, nothing fancy place but with real good tasting food.

I've been here for lunch but it has been ages. Too bad the quality has gone downhill.
