10/01/2008: "Kahai Street Kitchen"
Hello everyone! Happy October to you all! October is going to be a crazy busy month for me so I'm pretty excited! I'm actually visiting Philadelphia and New York for the first time ever later this month and I have a mixture of fear and excitement all at once!
Anyhoo, here is a post that includes a few visits to Kahai Street Kitchen. Both from a catering experience and take-out experience. Enjoy!
Perfectly grilled chicken... Click here for more pictures and the full review...
This is their Pulehu Chicken...
Pulehu Chicken comes with a great Mongolian BBQ sauce, here it is in action!
Isn't that an awesome picture?
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Here is an up-close pictures of the potatoes, they weren't as garlic-ky as I wanted and no gravy!
Furikake Salmon
Close-up of the salmon...
The next few pictures are from a lunch order we did. Kahai has daily lunch menus, here are the plates we had that day. Here is the Crab Cake Burger ($8.00 USD)
The fries that come with the burger...
Roast Duck with an Orange Glaze? ($7.95 USD)
Close-up of the duck...
Here is how the tossed salad looks like when you get it with your plate lunch...
Each plate comes with one scoop of rice...
Marinated Rib Eye Steak ($8.50 USD)
Close-up of the steak, delicious!
They have brown rice! And this is how it looks like...
Loco Moco ($6.25 USD)
Look at that wonderful gravy...yum!
Yum Yum Chicken ($6.75 USD)
I haven't tasted a yum yum chicken I didn't like...it lives up to its name!
Crispy Garlic Shrimp ($8.00 USD)
Garlic and shrimp together? You could never go wrong...
And last but not least, here is how the macaroni salad looks like when you order it in a plate lunch.
All in all, I think Kahai is a great place with great food. I feel like they really specialize in pretty classy food for a not so stuffy price. I love their plate lunches. The catering was great too! The owner, Nao, is a wonderful guy and is more than willing to help you along, but for those who are on a budget...Kahai might be a little pricier. But I say, definitely give it a try, it's well worth it! Parking is a bit sparse for this place so you might want to put that into consideration.

Hey Jess! Thanks for hanging in there! This site is constantly on my mind, but I think I just wanted to make a few changes to this site before I come back full blast. I continue to take pictures everywhere I go so I must post!

I can't remember now; did the furikake salmon come with a wasabi/mayo type of sauce on the side? All I know was that it was really ono! We should order lunch again some time soon.

Looks so ono! All I've had was a taste of a friend's plate lunch. But after seeing all this, I gotta head on over soon!
