06/21/2010: "Genki Sushi – Hong Kong Style"

That’s right! Genki Sushi is bustling in Hong Kong too, much to my delight. We had a Genki in my hotel so I could get my fill of Genki anytime. I’ll share some pictures of my visits there in this blog. Yes, I went there more than once…but the menu differs greatly from Hawai‘i. First of all, no spicy tuna! That’s my main staple, and during my second visit, I’m pretty sure I had an allergic reaction. I think it was a piece of fresh snapper sushi I had, and well, my mouth like swelled up like a balloon all night! That was pretty scary, but let’s let the pictures tell the story.

Extensive Menu!

Wasabi, Shoyu and Green Tea Powder

Hot Water Sprout - each dining area had it's own hot water

Isn't this such a great idea? It's so much more sanitary...wish we these lids in Hawaii!

Yaki Salmon - so good! I wish they didn't discontinue this here in Hawaii. It's the perfect amount of smokiness and...fattiness...yum!

Nom nom nom...

Sushi Hand Rolls - I think it's neat how they serve up their handrolls. And in case you're wondering, the stand comes on the stack of plates (so if you ordered three rolls, the stand is delivered on a stack of three plates with the corresponding color.

Chicken Karaage - definitely not as good as Hawaii

Sorry I didn't have too much pictures of food! I really enjoyed that HK offered up a lot of more exotic sushi choices. Other than the allergic reaction, I loved it. I also was able to purchase a really cute green tea set that comes with a packet of their green tea powder and their cute Genki tea cups. I gave it away as a gift. smile
