**COMMENTING**
Hi guys, I've have been having a big issue with spammers on this site so I have to add the static phrase element to all comments. With the commenting system on this system, you may need to click on the "Post Comment" button, rather than pressing enter on the keyboard. I hope this doesn't hinder the comments, I appreciate them all! Thank you!

Shiro's Saimin Haven

A quick post before the week starts. I apologize for the lack of updates, I have the pictures ready to go but I have been quite busy with work lately. I have some pretty good posts coming up so I hope that you guys stick around! smile Anyway, here is a really short update...just a few pictures from my visit to Shiro's Saimin Haven.

Haole Saimin. Apparently if you throw in a huge jumbo hot dog, it becomes a haole saimin. Don't ask me why.

Happy Day Chinese Restaurant

I am definitely not a fan of our Chinatown. It is dirty, always crowded with people...and mainly rude Chinese people. I'd like to think that I can say that because I am Chinese myself, so rushing out to Chinatown for dim sum is definitely not my idea of fun. But if I were to suggest a place to get great dim sum in Chinatown...the best you can find is definitely located in the Chinese Cultural Plaza. Anyway, to avoid the Chinatown craze...I head out to Happy Day Chinese Restaurant once in a while to satisfy my hunger. Here is a short entry to share some opinions...

Pork Hash or what I call siu mai. The ones served in Chinese restaurants are much better than the pork hashes served elsewhere...

Town

I've been to Town a few times now and came to a conclusion that it's not my thing. Don't get me wrong, they do have great dishes and a great atomsphere but there's just something that doesn't sit right with me. This post is going to be composed of pictures from a few visits, and I apologize ahead of time for the lack of details and prices! Well, why don't I let the pictures and commentary tell the story?

Godiva Chocolates

Today, I share with you some food porn for chocolate lovers. Here is a wonderful gift from Kristian that was completely unnecessary but completely appreciated! I couldn't ask for a better treat or a sweeter gesture.

Yohei Sushi

Sorry it's taken me a while to update! Today was not a good day, I stayed home from work because I was sick. And this past weekend!...I ate at two places that I didn't take pictures of...my camera died! So maybe I'll do a quick mention about them. I tried out Andy's Kahuku Shrimp (thumbs down) and the International House of Pancakes - Windward Mall (thumbs up). The staff was very nice at Andy's, but the shrimp ended up being a disappointment. There was this very thick floury coating on the shrimp...that had a weird after taste...and gave me a sore throat. IHOP was good, service started off well...but we were soon forgotten by the waitress (granted, she was a bit older). Anyhow, the food was pretty good so I would return to give it another try!

Let's move onto another place I tried a few weeks ago. I've seen Yohei Sushi a lot in passing and in commercials...and always wondered how it looked inside. So here is the review:

Lunch of the Day - Noodles and Dumplings

As I start to write this blog, I realize that I haven't been to Marukai in almost two weeks! That's pretty unbelievable...but I have been busy! Now that it's in my head, I'm sure I'll be heading out there soon enough. Anyway, let me share a recent lunch I had! I had some instant tarako spaghetti with smokies...and some gau gee (chinese dumplings)

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company used to be a favorite of mine. I don't know why it has disappeared from the radar, I guess a few years ago, they used to have a long wait to get in and the food was good, but not anything I craved. Anyhoo, when it came time for my birthday dinner...Kristian was sweet enough to treat me to Bubba Gump's! Let's let the pictures tell the story...

A bucket of shrimp and dipping sauce, how can you lose?

Miso Braised Chicken

As promised, here is the second recipe from the fresh bamboos! I definitely prefer this recipe over the miso dressed bamboo shoots, but still gave the majority to Aileen. This recipe goes very well with a nice bowl of hot white rice. smile

Miso Dressed Bamboo Shoots

About two weeks ago, Aileen surprised me with a nice supply of fresh bamboo shoots! I have never worked with fresh bamboo before and was quite excited. Even before Aileen surprised me with this, I had been thinking about trying out some recipes with bamboo anyhow. Here is one of the recipes I decided to try.

Kozo Sushi

Anytime I crave sushi, I'm sure you know by now that I will head out to Genki Sushi. However, there are certain occasions in which I do go to Kozo Sushi. Not just any location, but the one located in Moiliili. They seem to have a pretty good and consistent spicy tuna recipe down. I am incredibly picky about my spicy tuna...places that throw mayonnaise and Sriracha and raw tuna tuna together do not get my vote. Kozo's Sushi's spicy tuna is a bit more mellow...Genki Sushi definitely has a strong taste of sesame oil and a generous amout of masago...but let's get to the pictures shall we?

Lunch of the Day - Cold Saimin Salad

Just a simple lunch I prepared one day! The most work goes into the chopping of the toppings, so not hard at all! Very enjoyable!

Romy's Kahuku Prawns & Shrimp, Inc.

Ever since my discovery of Kahuku, I must say...I drive out there too many times to count. My main reasons? Well mainly, to get the best prawns in the world to eat. Then of course to top it off with some ice cream or shave ice from Angel's. You can't beat that combination, it makes for the perfect weekend treat. Let's get right to my favorite food in the world shall we?

Here's their sign to attract customers. Now, I don't know if that was by accident but it used to say Cooked or Live...it could be on purpose though.

Las Vegas Food Porn

Sin City! I can't say I enjoyed the food as much as I should have. They're known for their entertainment and buffets...and well...buffets aren't exactly top grade. So here are a few pictures of foods that Allyna and I consumed that I wanted to share. This should conclude the pictures from my latest trip.

Sonic Menu...not exactly porn but we don't have one here!

Yes, more food...
