Roast Duck and Baby Bok Choy

I'm constantly talking about my favorite foods! It seems like the list is never ending, but I must add this one! I'm sure I will be adding more posts about it, but yes, roast duck is one of my favorite foods. Especially the roast duck coming from Nam Fong in Chinatown. They are the tried and true restaurant and almost always has a line out the door. For this particular recipe, I decided to stir fry the roast duck with some great baby bok choy. Here are the pictures:

Fudgy Chocolate Cake

I saw this recipe in another blog and couldn't resist trying it out! Here is where I went wrong. I had the ingredients to make almost triple the recipe...and did so. That was a horrible decision, I wanted a brownie...but ended up with a very dense cake. I didn't enjoy the chocolate I used for this cake, so I was even more disappointed! But my coworkers seemed to like it okay, no real complaints. smile So here are some pictures and the recipes.

Kimchee Fried Rice

One of my all time favorite foods is kimchee fried rice. The best place to get it in Hawaii is definitely from Sapporo Ramen (aka Taiyo Ramen) at the Ala Moana Plaza. But if I may say so myself, I also make a pretty mean kimchee fried rice. Extremely easy to make...but the kimchee you use is key! I only use the kimchee from Palama Supermarket, you can't beat it! I don't have an exact recipe to type out here, but I do have pictures of what I do put in...you can throw in whatever amount you want!

Kimchee, Spam, Onions and lots of Green Onions!

CDSE Open House

Our office had our official grand opening the other week, and the staff came out in full force. Our office is known for serving pretty good food for events...and we definitely upheld that reputation for this! It was by far the nicest spread we ever had...so take a look!

Welcome indeed.

Pho Bac

I apologize for the lack of posts this past week! Work has kept me quite busy, but our event has come and gone as of Thursday...so I feel nothing but relief now! I still have so many posts to put up and many pictures to edit...all good stuff! smile Well, a few weeks back, I had a craving for pho and headed down to Chinatown for my fill. Locals of Oahu know that Chinatown holds the best tasting and cheapest pho in town! Along River Street, I can count off at least four that exist. One of them always has a long line, which I don't quite fall for. I did try that place once, and I didn't think it was that special. Sure it's cheap, sure they give good portions...but I believe they all do! I'm not willing to wait 20 minutes in line when there are other perfectly good shops right next door. Well anyway, here is a quick post on the shop I did try!

Panda Cuisine

Not only have I been on the search for a great ramen place to eat, but also for a great dim sum restaurant to eat it! Don't get me wrong, you can find a great dim sum restaurant anytime during the day...but how about at night? People crave breakfast foods all hours of the day! So we decided to give Panda Cuisine a try. A meal that Allyna was nice enough to treat me with. smile

Yotteko-ya

Next stop on the ramen journey, Yotteko-ya. This ramen shop is tucked away in a small corner of the McCully Shopping Center. They promise to offer authentic Kyoto style ramen and a broth that promises enjoyment and the ability to look younger. So how was the food?

Crooked picture of the store-front. Sorry!

Taishoken

The quest for the perfect ramen continues! Today's choice comes to us from Taishoken. I've heard many good reviews about this place so I decided to try it out. How did it go?

Side view of the restaurant, a bit shabby looking huh?

Jumbo Hot Dog with Garlic Butter Shoyu Musubi

Can the title of this blog be any longer? smile I headed out to 7-11 a couple weeks back and found a newly created musubi! The title of it, well...basically tells you exactly what's in it. I love when they play around with different food combinations. I remember they had a kimchee avocado tuna sushi roll before? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I loved it! They had it for a while and it always sold out, but they still stopped making it! I hope they don't stop this one, and I'll show you why...

Kit N' Kitchen

Kit N' Kitchen opened a few years ago and received quite a bit of publicity from local media outlets. I remember on several occasions, the restaurant and its owner Kit, was featured on the cover of Honolulu Advertiser's Dining Out section. The restaurant offers a fusion of Hong Kong style cooking with Italian cuisine. The atomsphere and design is very much like an electic Hong Kong cafe...so how is the food?

Restaurant front, valet parking? I haven't seen these valet booth serviced yet...

Lunch of the Day - Mitsu-Ken

I didn't have the time to upload some of my other ramen pics so I decided to share a recent lunch instead! My coworker headed out to grab some lunch and volunteered to get us Mitsu-Ken so how could I refuse?? Here's some pictures of that lunch...

Garlic Chicken Bento ($4.95 USD).

Sanoya Rahmen

I've heard nothing but good things in the past about Sanoya Rahmen, so I decided to give it a try. Actually, Kristian and I have been on a little ramen experiment. Hopefully if I have time, I will post all the results. But let's start off with the first week, Sanoya! Here goes...

Corner of the street...can't miss it! Parking is located in the back, not a lot...but luckily we arrived early.
